For us, choosing a fragrance begins with something incredibly simple: the first whiff.

There are perfumes that immediately brighten your day. You smell them and something simply clicks. A fragrance could win every award of 2026, dominate every recommendation list and receive endless compliments — but if you don’t enjoy smelling it yourself, it’s unlikely to become your fragrance.

That doesn’t mean other people’s opinions don’t matter. They do. Hearing that you smell good is wonderful, particularly when it comes from a partner, family member or someone close to you. But once you’re genuinely hooked on a fragrance, those opinions become less important. Wear it regularly enough and something interesting happens: people begin to associate that smell with you. What was once simply a perfume gradually becomes part of your presence.

Putting on perfume should feel personal. It can be the cherry on top before leaving the house, a small boost of confidence and eventually a meaningful part of your daily routine. When you find the right one, you may even start imagining it in your future — wearing it to an important meeting, on a beautiful holiday, celebrating an achievement or simply becoming the version of yourself you hope to be.

That, to us, is the true essence of a signature scent. It isn’t the fragrance that gets the most strangers to ask what you’re wearing. It’s the one that becomes woven into your memories, ambitions and identity.

Occasionally, you get lucky and find a fragrance that does both: you love wearing it and everyone around you loves smelling it. That’s probably the perfect scenario. But compliments should be the bonus — never the reason you fell in love with the perfume in the first place.
