Four candles for darker evenings
Autumn changes the atmosphere of home.
The windows close, evenings arrive earlier, and the things we barely noticed in summer — warm light, a cup of coffee, a book left open on the table — begin to matter again.
Scent becomes part of that change. We move away from the bright citrus and airy florals of warmer days towards woods, amber, smoke, leather, spice and something gently sweet.
A candle does more than make a room smell good. Lit at the end of the day, it can become a small ritual: a signal that work is finished, the lights can soften, and the evening has begun.
For autumn, we chose four candles that capture four very different versions of that feeling.
The café. The amber glow. The library. The fireside.
Bringing autumn indoors
There is no single scent of autumn. For some, it is coffee and something warm from the oven. For others, it is old books, polished wood, fallen leaves or the faint smokiness of a fire.
That is perhaps why home fragrance feels particularly at home at this time of year. Scent lets us create a season indoors — even when outside is simply grey, wet and cold.
This autumn, we are drawn to amber, woods, spice, leather, coffee and smoke: scents that make a room feel warmer before the heating has even come on.
Our Autumn Candle Edit
We’ve gathered a small selection of scented candles that capture those darker, cosier moods — from atmospheric niche houses to scents made for slow evenings at home.
